I don't want to write much today.
I just want to say this:
There are tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of people dying in Somalia right now. They are trying so hard to get to Kenya and Ethiopia where they can get refuge, shelter, food, and have their medical needs taken care of. Tonight we had a joint hall meeting with our brother and sister dorms and talked about this. I felt the need to tell people. I don't know who is going to read this, but I believe everyone needs to know about it. In a matter of 20 minutes, our dorms raised $500 which amounts to 10,000 meals for the people of Somalia. I know I don't have the money in the world that I can give to them, but I am doing what I can with the money I have. Even if you don't want to give money, pray for the people. Also, there are so many American's that don't even know what's going on in Somalia. TELL SOMEONE! (and tell them to tell someone!)
That's all.

Today was pretty great. I woke up around 8:00, got a shower and finished cleaning our room for room checks. Convo was at 10, so we headed there and it was wonderful. As always! There was a man from Africa there to talk to us about Compassion International, and he was very sweet. The speaker for today was Jon Acuff. He was hilarious! After Convo, my prayer leader Megan went to the Rot with me and we ate lunch. I really enjoyed getting to know her and talk with her. Then we went to Jazzman's and she treated me to a iced coffee! YUM! We talked in the computer lab for a while and then she had to get to a class and I had to study so, I came back to my dorm and studied for a little. I had GNED and then EVAN and definitely aced my EVAN quiz. I studied so hard and then the teacher pretty much gave us all the answers because a lot of people in the class didn't have the book yet since the bookstore ran out. So, I studied hard and knew my answers before he told us the answers. Lets see... then I came back to my dorm, got ready for dinner, and went to the Rot with my dorm. After dinner, I went back to my room, grabbed my camera, and took pictures of my friend Claire and her friend Josh because they're running for Sophomore president and vice president. The pictures turned out really well and I'm happy with them. I ran from there to the Schilling Center to listen to a presentation about mission trips LU is taking, but I wasn't really interested in going on any of them. Now I'm procrastinating my English homework, so I guess I should get started!

The Day of Rest.
Today was pretty good! I didn't wake up until about 9:30 when Kaylyn woke me up because she locked herself out of the room. AGAIN. The RA's have this thing that every time you need them to unlock the door for you, the first time is 50 cents and then it goes up by a quarter each time. I think I need to start doing that because it sucks! Anyway, the weather was beautiful today! I worked on my homework for about an hour and then Tara & Kevin picked me up and we went to the store for some items. I got some shopping done and got Taco Bell, yum! (Even though Kaylyn judged me for eating it!!!!!) We went and took some pictures and I ended up just getting annoyed because Kaylyn hates bugs and dirt and it's the stinking outdoors for crying out loud! I got back to my dorm and took a little nap and then got ready for TRSIX:THIRTY which is the new campus church on Sunday nights. Mary and Kaylyn went on their merry way to church and I got a ride with my friend George who is in our brother dorm! What a nice guy! It's weird not going to church in the morning, and I could still go if I wanted to, but I don't think I will! I really loved going to church tonight. The worship was amazing(as always) and we learned a lot about what church is really supposed to be like. When I got back to my dorm, we ate some food. I had a lunchable! It was good :) I am supposed to be studying for a quiz I have tomorrow, but I probably won't do it until tomorrow morning. I have a huge break before my classes. Also, I might get my hair cut tomorrow by a girl in the room next to mine. We'll see!
Hurricane Party!
Yesterday was a nice day of break after my first full week of classes. I woke up around 10 AM and got ready for my day. I met my friend Savon for "brunch" at Founder's Food Court on North Campus. I say "brunch" because that's what we intended it to be, but the food court didn't open until noon, so I considered it lunch. I had some yummy sushi (California Roll of course)! My friends Gian and Justin met us there for lunch and we ended up watching videos on Youtube for a while after lunch... Good times! After lunch we walked around outside and it was so beautiful! The winds from Irene were blowing and it was wonderful. That was pretty much the first time all week that I wasn't dying because it was so hot. I think God planned my relief from classes and my relief from the hot weather to be at the same time! :) I got back to my room and just spent some time with my roommate Mary for a couple hours. We made hot chocolate!
At around 4:00 we started getting ready for the Block Party. Mary put on some techno music and we had a little dance party. It was great! While waiting for our RA Shelanne to return, we took lots of pictures with each other. It was raining so we grabbed our hoodies and umbrellas! There was no way a little rain was going to ruin my party! We walked to North Campus in the misty rain and when we got to the party there was practically no one there! I got my free Domino's t-shirt and my free draw-string bag for Student Activities (it has lots of coupons in it! YES!). It started to pour so we all huddled under a big tent for a little until I decided that I really didn't care if I got wet. After a while, the rain stopped and the sky started to clear up. There was a breeze and I just couldn't get enough. God is such an amazing guy!
The night consisted of a lot of walking around, talking to people from my dorm and my brother dorm, going inside the Student Union and beating Mary at basketball (BIG TIME!), watching people break dance, buying a bracelet to support Invisible Children, winning a full size candy bar for sucking at a bean bag game (now that's what I call a prize!), and listening to music. The music was provided by Andy Davis (he was okay, but he sang a lot of love songs... WAY TO RUB IT IN!), Dave Barnes (who also sang a lot of love songs.. BARF!), and MuteMath. The lead singer of MuteMath lost his voice so there was literally no singing at their concert. At first I thought it was a joke, ya know? MuteMath is mute!!!! HOW FUNNY!!! No. They were serious. We stayed for a little but it kind of sucked, so we started walking back (I walked back barefoot, of course!). On our way through the stadium, the music stopped and the fireworks started so Mary and I watched them from right underneath. :)
Once we got back to our dorm, we decided that we were hungry so we ordered a pizza from Domino's and had it delivered to the dorm. It was tasty! Overall, I had a great day and loved the weather so, so much! Irene didn't ruin my day at all!

First week of classes: DONE.
I officially survived my first week of classes. I'll try to make this a daily thing, but I thought I should catch you up on my week first! My Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule is pretty simple... Convocation at 10 until 11 and then my first class (GNED) is at 1:45. Then I go to Evangelism at 2:55, right after GNED. So far, I really like both of these classes. I haven't learned a lot in GNED yet, but the teacher is really nice and super funny. Evangelism is probably my favorite class so far. We have a lot of work to do, but in the first week, I have learned so much. (It's also a plus that there are many attractive men in that class, but I'm sure you could have guessed I was going to say that ;)) My Tuesday and Thursday schedule is a little crazy, but I'm surviving. I have my 7:40 Design class, which is actually really boring, for 2 hours and then at 10:50 I have English which stinks even more. I've tried to squeeze breakfast from the Rot in there between classes, but I think next week I'm going to just eat lunch instead. The breakfast food is nasty! After English, I have Bible class at 3:35. It is probably one of the most boring classes I have ever been in. You see, my original teacher is currently in Turkey for 9 weeks, so we have a long term substitute who is also the head of the Judaic Studies here. Therefore, all he talks about is Israel and Jews. I have yet to learn something in that class!
Besides classes, I have been staying PRETTY busy! There have been sooo many activities and fun things to do around here, it's crazy! Yes, most of my friends are guys, but it's really okay! I'm meeting a lot of people on my dorm. We also have a sister dorm (M16) and a brother dorm (M9). We eat dinner a lot with them, and do a lot of activities with them as well. On Wednesdays for Campus Church, we all sit together, and we also all sit together for Convo. Last night, we had Bro/Sis dorm bonding through a wonderful game of Capture the Flag! It was a crazy, 2 and a half hour game that resulted in both of our teams (it was guys against girls) just giving up! We had a lot of fun and I met a lot of people that are in our brother dorm! Such nice guys! :)
Convocation on Wednesday was cancelled because Jerry Falwell Jr. was supposed to speak, but had to go to a funeral, so Friday was our first Convo with everyone! It was wonderful! The campus praise team is great and really picks the best songs ever to play! We learned about missions and everyone was touched by it. Campus church on Wednesday was also amazing. The music they play at our services is seriously the best. It's my favorite part! Clayton King, one of our Campus Pastors spoke about beginning with the end in mind and about 35 students accepted Christ for the first time (including a girl from my hall! :))
I'll post about today after the day is over, but my first week here was great! I am so glad I go to this college!
